How I am Battling Kentucky Insects

I love being outdoors, but that doesn’t mean I want to be bug food.  While I love our home in rural Kentucky, I found that the insects really like to hang out right by our door.  I tried explaining to them they had the rest of the 15+ acres to roam, but they  insisted this was the best spot. This summer I am winning the war with this battle plan.

You may have heard of Mother Goose on Oprah, The New York Times, or Car and Driver.  It’s in Hazard, Kentucky (Eastern Kentucky.)  I was going to Hazard the other day and thought it would be fun to stop by and see it with my son.

The other day we saw a rattlesnake next to our house.  This was the first time I’d seen one since moving to Kentucky.  My son looked at it and said “nake, a yumm” and rubbed his tummy.  I was still stunned that one was that close to the house, only 3′ away. Read more [+]

This Spring Tomas the Cat is Trying New Things

Tomas Spring 2015Hi, my name is Tomas and with the warm weather I’ve been outside alot lately.  I like to follow my child out at a safe distance and watch him play as he drives trucks, mows the lawn, plays in the sandbox, uses his water table, and plays with the scary red dome (which he gets into and rocks around having a great time.)  Oh me, now I don’t get into that or onto it but I do like to watch.
